Galley Planning Officer

Job Title: Galley Planning Officer

Job Purpose:
To prepare Layout of Passenger Aircrafts (LOPAs) and Galley Loading Plans (GLP),for all aircrafts establishing the standards of on-board service equipment dry store & bar items, determining and addressing loading issues for QR aircrafts whilst always aiming to simplify loading and reduce items on board.
Accountabilities:
Operational
Whist maintaining a focus on cost and weight, responsible for the planning and design of the galleys for all new aircraft types as per the instructions of Manager Aircraft Planning, ensuring that all user requirements are met and the 5 star award winning service can be delivered effectively
Responsible for planning and preparing the GLP through Qosmos Galley Planning Module (GPM) for all variations of service and aircraft types ensuring that all service providers worldwide have the required information in an accurate and timely manner
Conducts fit checks, trial-packing plans, surveys and gives the feedback to Management with recommendations for improvements
Produces Stores and bar Packing Plans in accordance with crew feedback, ensuring that the most cost effective solution is loaded onto each flight
Creates catering weights for all variations of service and aircraft types through GPM ensuring that galley weight limitations are adhered to at all times and stakeholders are provided with the pantry weights well in advance
Development
Take responsibility for own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise
Train and develop other employees for proper succession planning and risk management
Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program
Operational Safety
Ensure full awareness of work health and safety requirements and expectations in order to minimise health and safety risks for self and colleagues
Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to guarantee employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service with a responsible environment attitude and taking specific care over weight loaded and unit placement on-board to avoid excess weight/ fuel-burn and potential injury

About You:
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, a strong leader as well as have very good presentation skills. Ideally you will have more than 3 years experience in the Luxury Retail or Service Industry (Duty Free is an advantage ) with a proven track record in the ability to manage stock on a day-to-day basis.
Knowledge of airports and service industry is preferred. You will be qualified to a minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
You will have excellent managerial skills. Your ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow will allow you to perform well in this role. About Your Job:
This key role is in charge of providing aircraft operations technical support to the rapidly expanding Qatar Airways fleet, as well as flight crew and other airlines departments ensuring compliance with local and international regulations and practice. In addition to the Qatar Airways fleet the role holder will provide technical operations support to Qatar Executive and other fleets.
You will lead and develop a team of experienced Flight Operations Engineers, with a headcount of approximately 23, working with state of the art aircraft in a mixed fleet comprising of Airbus, Boeing, Gulfstream and Bombardier types. You will ensure that your team are operating at subject matter expert standard across areas of accountability including operations, aircraft performance, weight and balance and technical support.
You will also be involved in establishing budgets and schedules, coordinating workloads and regularly evaluate the team’s objectives, plans, procedures and practices and make appropriate changes if needed. Proactively communicate with all levels of management to raise the standard and consistency of Flight Operations Engineering department and be responsible to train and develop employees for proper succession planning and risk management, assist in the response to any emergency or a major operations disruption affecting Qatar Airways and perform other duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you should have minimum of 10 years of practical experience in Flight Operations Engineering and Performance Environment ideally from with major airline exposure. You must hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering.
It is essential that you have extensive aircraft operational and technical knowledge preferably across multiple fleets.
You will be influential and engaging when dealing with stakeholders and innovative and solution focused when tackling issues. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential. It is vital you have a customer centric approach.
